Physical chemical properties: Sulfur is
yellow or straw yellow liquid or solid. The atomic number
is 16, the atomic mass is 32.06. Sulfur can be divided
into two kinds, the crystal and the amorphous. Due to
different molding methods, the product may be in powder,
granule, fake,or block. The melting point is 112.8-119.3℃
and the boiling point is 444.6℃. It is insoluble in
water, a little soluble in alcohol and aether and easily
soluble in carbon disulfide, tetrachloride and benzene.
It can combust and the kindling point is 363℃. Its dust
or vapor may mix with air to form explosive mixtures.

Product application: Industrial sulfur
is mostly used to produce sulfuric acid, dyes and rubber
articles. It may also be used in military industry,
medicine, agricultural chemicals etc. In food industry,
the edible sulfur is used for antisepsis, disinsection,
bleaching, fuming. It may also be used in starch industry
to soften corn or other raw materials.
Manufacturing: The acidic gases from refineries
and sulfur-containing waste water device are collected
in sulfur recovery device. Sulfur is made after oxidation.
Toxicity and protection: Sulfur is very
low in toxicity. But dirt control is needed and protection
mask should be used in operation
Packaging, storage and transportation:
Industrial sulfur should be packed in plastic knitting
bags or plastic thin-film bags. There should be a sign
of the second grade dangerous combustible solid. Solid
sulfur may be stored in open air or indoor warehouses,
but water and moisture should be avoided. Liquid sulfur
may be transported by tank trucks.
